Fitting T.E.D Stockings

Measure upper thigh circumference at the buttock fold

1. Measure calf circumference at greatest portion to determine size
2. Measure the distance from base of heel to determine the length (if possible, measure length in standing position)

Wearing Instructions (Applying)

1. Insert hand into stocking to heel pocket.
2. Grasp heel pocket and turn stocking inside out to heel area.
3. Carefully position stocking over foot and heel.
4. Pull stocking around ankle and calf. The stitch change should fall between 1'' - 2'' below bend of knee.
5. Gusset is placed slightly towards the inside of leg. Top band rests in the gluteal furrow. Smooth excess material.

Precautions

• Proper sizing and application must be assured.
• Do not turn down top of stockings.

Contradications (As per Manufacturer)

• Any local leg condition in which stockings would interfere, such as : a. dermatitis, b. vein ligation (immediate  postoperative), c. gangrene, d. recent skin graft
  
  
• Severe arteriosclerosis or other ischemic vascular disease
  
• Massive edema of legs or pulmonary edema from congestive heart failure 
• Extreme deformity of leg
  
• Thigh circumference > 25" (63.5cm) at gluteal furrow
